Udall Partner, Mimi Pietro, involved the members in a discussion of Arizona’s Uniform Trade Secrets Act and what it means to companies. She explained how BCA members can protect themselves and their company’s secret and private information from employee theft.

Thom Cope and Mimi Petro of Udall Law Firm conducted a presentation on ‘THE BUSINESS OF MEDICAL MARIJUANA AND HOW IT IMPACTS EMPLOYERS’. This was a very informative workshop where members received the basics on how this new situation will impact their operations. There were plenty of questions from members.

On this day, National Bank of AZ is firing up their 402 kilowatt solar array at their southern AZ headquarters at 335 N. Wilmot. This 24,000 sq. ft. array will provide about 25% of the power needed for their 2 office buildings in the years to come. This solar array is one of the largest in Tucson.

In addition to Lovitt & Touche, companies represented at the event were National Bank Of AZ, AdVision Outdoor, the Beacon Group, Legendary World, Premier Printing & Mailing, Sasiadek’s Information Technologies, Tucson Medical Ctr, Udall Law Firm & University Of Phoenix.
Lovitt & Touchehas offices in Tucson, Phoenix & Las Vegas. Several representatives from Lovitt & Touche presented information on all their divisions and products including employee benefits and retirement
plans, commercial insurance, workers compensation, risk control, executive and personal insurance among others.
National Bank Of AZ, Executive VP, Dave Lyons, spoke about the banks installation of 1320 solar panels atop structures at their north Wilmot location should be completed by October. The panels are projected to reduce the buildings’ electricity costs by about 25%.
Gaya Zeiter, owner of Premier Printing & Mailing, explained how her company was also moving into internet marketing and social media implementation for their clients.
Legendary World owner, Scott Caddow, updated members on another web service on his site, Cruise Finder. This service will keep you up to date on pricing of cruises in which you have interest.
Tucson Medical Center is now an accredited Stroke/Chest Pain Center. The Clinical Program Manager, Jeanne Jones, brought news of all the benefits that TMC can bring to those suffering chest pains.
In other news, members Tucson Medical Center and Clear Channel Radio teamed up for a radiothon to raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network. Early estimates reveal approximately $275,000 was raised during the 3 day broadcast.

Then they shared with attending members information about the new technology of QR Codes and how a business can use them to communicate with people who utilize a smart phone. Today’s participants included Udall Law Firm, Lovitt-Touche Insurance, Ventana Landscaping, Eagle Rock Excavation, Premier Printing & Mailing, University of Phoenix, Tucson Medical Center, Sasaideks Information Technologies, Clear Channel Radio, Horizon Moving Systems and Roberts & Associates plus Canyon Building & Design personnel.
The group learned more about all the different construction services that Canyon Building & Design has to offer. They also updated everyone on their current projects.
University of Phoenix informed the group they are now holding “Scholarship Workshops” to help potential college students learn about all the sources of scholarship dollars out there. U of PHX also will top their record enrollment again for the month of June.
Tucson Medical Center broke the news that as of this week, the hospital is now fully converted to “all electronic” records on patients. TMC is the first Tucson hospital to move forward with this technology.
Udall Law Firm introduced their newest ‘practicing partner’, Marc Goldsen who proceeded to provide a synopsis of his background and specialties.
Clear Channel Radio announced the return of long time radio personality, Allan Michaels, to 1450AM Cool Oldies. The radio group is also partnering with the Angel Charity For Children. Plus they are preparing for their annual radio-thon in partnership with TMC and the Children’s Miracle Network coming up in August on 92.9FM The Mountain.
Also discussed were several instances where members were assisting other members with referrals.
